The Roakemba

Behind every thread, a woman of Androy

In Ambondro, in the village of Terakabo, Antandroy women weave wild cotton as their mothers and grandmothers did before them. Ain'Ampela has worked with them since its creation, so that this craft lives on and gives them a living.

Behind the scenes

Before Ain'Ampela, there was already a thread

Ain'Ampela was born in 2024. But its story begins four years earlier, in 2020, with a young woman, a few Malagasy fabrics and a desire that never left her.
